telling the truth about racism
Racism tells a lie about who we are. It says some people are better than others based on the color of their skin.
But we know a deeper truth: All people are equally beloved children of God.
Our antiracism work helps communities recognize this truth, explore how the lie of racism has distorted our relationships with God and each other, and find pathways toward healing and justice.
Through our Montessori-inspired storytelling approach, we make this challenging topic accessible to people of all ages—not by oversimplifying history, but by focusing on essential truths that speak to both heart and mind.
"I'm not as organized as she is"
"At least I'm better than him at this"
"Those people always..."
hierarchies hurt people
Our approach begins with noticing:
We all carry hierarchies within us.
The small ways we rank ourselves and others
These comparisons might seem harmless—but they're connected to the same thinking that props up racism and other injustices.
By gently noticing these patterns in a faith-centered space, we create an opening for God's truth to realign our vision.
Our storytelling then helps participants understand the historical development of racism—not as abstract concepts, but as stories involving real people who felt fear, curiosity, righteousness and love.
By connecting emotionally to these stories, participants begin to see themselves within the larger narrative, because they live in hierarchies.
We depart the sand equipping people with practical tools for having courageous conversations in their daily lives, ensuring that the work that becomes grounded in themselves continues beyond the sand.

Advanced
Become a sand storyteller yourself. Our original 6 week zoom training lets you go deep into the stories and practice telling them. Next cohort begins January 2026.
